AngelFest 2011 in pictures

In Chaska, Family on September 29, 2011 at 9:56 am

Grant was more than a little excited about Guardian Angels’ annual AngelFest fall celebration…

Games for the kids…

Crafts for the adults…

Food…

A polka band playing, “In heaven there is no beer, that’s why we drink it here…”

Someone please explain this game to me…

Water balloon fight in the street…

And a tour of the historic Guardian Angels church, including an exclusive look at the 1902 pipe organ…

And some videos:
Playing the 1903 pipe organ at Guardian Angels Cathedral
The one where the AngelFest music is shaking all the windows in our house, and Grant is concerned
Backyard fire + James Brown = awesome

Enjoyed the cool fall night with my wife around the fire…

Took the boys bike riding…

Let the cheerleader eat some leaves…

Played baseball with the eldest child…

While the youngest and middle child gave the truck a tune-up…

Caught the Vikings game with my group of guy friends. It’s no coincidence we all enjoy eating animals…

FACT: If you land at LaGuardia airport, I will personally greet you

Last week Grant asked me to bring two Batman figures (Batmen?) to New York…

A stellar win for our U.S. Army client at the PR News Platinum Awards…

And a great week of Weber Shandwick Digital Leadership Meetings, both formal and informal…

And home in time for Grant’s last soccer game of the season…

Google Maps, now featuring National September 11 Memorial

In From the Road on September 13, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Was just checking Google Maps for an upcoming meeting in Soho and noticed they’ve updated their satellite imagery to a new scan in downtown Manhattan that includes the new National September 11 Memorial.

I don’t know how new this is, but it’s nice to see…

This would be a good place for a sponsored link directing to the memorial page. I’m sure this will be a must-see destination for centuries to come.

I myself am hoping to make it down there this week or next.

Breakfast with Harry Beckwith, author of Selling the Invisible and Unthinking, thanks to Sheepish Design…

And enjoyed the first Speak: Church Communications Conference…

It was a staycation this week, so I had ample opportunities to play with the kids…

We took Grayson to preschool orientation…

Took Grant to soccer…

Got all dressed up for the Iowa State gamewatch — to watch the Cyclones beat the Hawkeyes! YES!

And taught the boys how to ride bikes…

We took Grant to the opening preseason Minnesota Vikings game (and first game back at the Metrodome since the roof collapsed)…

Had some fun with the kidz…

This is a bus stop…

This is a “meeting place”…

I went to New York for work, and Jenny tagged along…

And so did these yahoos…

And so did Batman…

And a shot of Ground Zero just before Hurricane Irene…

Meanwhile, the kids were perfectly happy at Nana and Papa’s…

And we discovered these Vikings upon returning home…
