@leslie I like the idea of a new mural. That definitely would've been covered by local media.

@pennagirl Plenty of businesses organize around the Super Bowl each year w/o directly mentioning "Super Bowl" in their promotions. Many of these concepts above wouldn't actually have taken money, but rather coordination, foresight and a determination to get some of those dollars spent in Minneapolis and Shakopee in Chaska.

I know of a lot of people that do rent out their homes for the entire PGA tour in Chaska. There are not that many hotels in Chaska alone to be able to support that kind of influx of people. Many MINNEAPOLIS business use PGA tickets to tout their businesses. Many people with money are PGA attendees from outside, most want to stay in a higher end hotel? What does Chaska offer for those people?

Greg, you should really do some research, the PGA does not just let anyone advertise using the PGA name without permission. Also, merchants have to be able to afford to advertise. It great and wonderful to sit back and critize. Pizza N Pasta was slammed with business at both locations in Chaska and Shakopee. Chaska has another issue...PARKING. Hence, the reason for parking at Canterbury in Shakopee.

These are great ideas, Greg! If these events were actually to take place I would consider visiting even if I weren't going to the PGA championships. An additional consideration is to have a PGA Championship themed window decorating contest between downtown businesses, the winner featured in the town newspaper.
